Legacy Donor Services Foundation and Donor Heroes Are Superheroes Receive Prestigious Donate Life America Pinnacle Award

Miami, Florida, September 12, 2024 – Legacy Donor Services Foundation is proud to announce that Donor Heroes Are Superheroes, a children’s educational activity book, has been awarded a prestigious Donate Life America Pinnacle Award in the Youth Education category. Pinnacle awards recognize innovative and successful programs developed by Donate Life state teams and member organizations that advance donor registration and help save and heal lives through organ, eye, and tissue donation. Only seven Pinnacle Awards are presented annually, making this recognition one of the highest honors in the donation and transplantation community.

Donor Heroes Are Superheroes was created to engage and educate children about the importance of organ, eye, and tissue donation in an age-appropriate, interactive, and meaningful way. Designed for students in first through sixth grade, the activity book encourages learning through games, puzzles, coloring pages, and educational activities that help children understand the life-saving impact of donation. The resource also reaches parents, caregivers, and educators who participate alongside children, expanding awareness throughout families and communities.

By introducing donation concepts at a young age, the initiative helps foster understanding, compassion, and future support for organ, eye, and tissue donation.

“Legacy Donor Services Foundation was proud to support the creation of Donor Heroes Are Superheroes as a unique and engaging way to reach children and families with the message of donation,” said Senior Director, Professional Development and Communications, Patricia Darrigan, “this activity book helps make a complex and sensitive topic easy for children to understand. We are deeply honored to receive this national recognition from Donate Life America.”

This award reflects the importance of reaching future generations with messages of hope, generosity, and lifesaving impact,” said Trina Long, Donor Mom and author of Donor Heroes Are Super Heroes. “When I wrote this, I wanted to fill the information gap for my grandsons about their father, my son Logan, and his final act of kindness. I am deeply humbled by this honor and grateful to everyone who helped bring Donor Heroes Are Super Heroes to life.”
